Richard Carney Malacarne died on January 4, 2026.
He was the only son of Faye Elizabeth Moore and Silvio Pietro Malacarne.
He was born in Brookville, PA on January 31, 1942.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years; Nancy C. (Coax) Malacarne, sister Ann Miles (Larry), nieces and nephews: Jennie Kuzemchek (Kevin), Sara Coax, Emma Gil (Stan), Heather Goodwin (Bill), Kelly Miles (Tam); and brother-in-law Dr. Warren A. Coax (Betsy) and cousins.
After attending Beech Hollow School, a one room schoolhouse in the Brookville Area (Ramsaytown), he earned a Bachelors degree from Clarion State college where he met his forever partner Nancy (Coax). He then earned a Masters degree from Penn State and IUP.
In 1963 he was hired as a high school social studies teacher in the Indiana Area School District. At IHS he wore many hats. In a career that spanned 36 years he helped to train 22 student teachers, advised many clubs and was Athletic Director for 11 years.
He loved geography and world cultures, and often joked that he was in 11th grade for 36 years.
Richard loved to travel and was all over the world. He also loved hunting and collecting stamps, shot glasses and Dukes of Hazard memorabilia.
He was a leader, not a follower. He coached Little League baseball. He was president of a 4H Club, the Optimist Club, the I.A.E.A, and the Clarion University Alumni Board. He was happiest when he was multi-tasking.
Richard was a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. 931 Elks Lodge and Clymer Slovak Club.
The family would like thank; Kelly, Hillary (Harriet), Becky, Taylor and Dr. Bernard Coppolo for the compassionate care that was given to Richard.
Contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church 100 6th Street Indiana, PA 15701 or a charity of your choice in memory of Richard.
