Indiana County’s Commissioners got an encouraging report from Emergency Management Director Tom Stutzman about the county’s Covid-19 status.
Indiana County’s status remains in the Low category per CDC guidelines, and Stutzman added that there are plans in the works for a program to boost vaccination levels in the county, which are still low.
Stutzman said that people should remain vigilant as news of Philadelphia and several counties on the Eastern Side of the State moving up into higher transmission rate categories, and he encourages everyone to get their vaccine.
The commissioners also approved a proclamation of April being Fair Housing month for the county, and a fair housing resolution on behalf of the Community Development Block Grant communities of Indiana Borough and Center Township. This will identify how the county will “promote, educate, and aid in the enforcement of title eight of the Civil Rights Act of 1968”, which deals with fair housing laws. Title eight prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, leasing and financing of housing or land for any reason.
