BOYS BASKETBALL
For the second time this season, United beat Conemaugh Township, 68-56, staying unbeaten and handing the Indians only their second loss. Dmitri Worthington nailed six three-pointers and scored a season-high 21 for the Lions, who trailed by 8 at the half. Carter Payne dropped in 15 and Ryan Felix 13. Colin Dinyar scored 17 for Conemaugh Township and Stephen Stango had 14.
Marion Center held Portage to just 7 points in each of the first two quarters and led 34-14 at the half, but the Mustangs exploded for 20 points in the third quarter and 23 in the decisive fourth to beat the Stingers, 57-55. Teagan Kick led Portage with 14 points, Llehson Walker had 13, and Easton Slanoc 11. Tyson Burkett had 8 rebounds and 6 steals. Marion Center was led by Kamden Rozier’s 17 and Alec Brudnick’s 15.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Marion Center gave up the first two points of the game but scored the next 11 on the way to a 27-7 first half, and a 48-28 win over Homer-Center. Three Stingers finished in double figures, led by Macie Miller’s 14. Alivia Ruddock and Amelia Kubica each scored 10. The Wildcats were led by Julia Fabin, with 11.
In a non-conference game, River Valley dispatched Somerset, 67-46, behind 23 points by Kenady Kitner, 14 apiece from Maddie Twincheck and Kennedy Cole, and 10 by Alessia LaMantia.
Junior High basketball, Somerset edged River Valley, 32-30. Giana Corridoni and Myla Gaston each scored 9 for the Panthers.
