Preliminary hearings are scheduled today for Indiana County’s district courts, including one for a man charged with assault in a prison.
Court documents show 29-year-old Ryan Patrick Nelson of Indiana faces four counts each of assault by a prisoner of a jail employee and aggravated harassment by a prisoner along with two counts of aggravated assault. The charges go back to an incident on May 24th, 2025. Today marks the third attempt for a preliminary hearing as ones scheduled for August and October of last year had to be continued.
Also due in court today is 39-year-old Katie Scott of Indiana, who is charged with filing a false, fraudulent or incomplete insurance claim, attempted theft by deception and defrauding an insurance company. The charge was filed for an incident on July 21st of 2024.
