The Penguins have had their share of third-period heartbreak this season, but yesterday they were on the other end of it, with a tremendous comeback and an overtime win in Columbus. Paul Steigerwald has the recap.
Coach Dan Muse says sometimes wins aren’t pretty, but they’re still wins.
Sidney Crosby, who scored the game-winner after a slick transition off the bench in overtime, says the Pens knew they could win if they only got a break or two.
Rickard Rakell says every player on the Pens’ roster knows their role.
It was a big weekend for Rakell, who not only scored the game-tying goal against the Blue Jackets on Sunday, he was also named to Sweden’s Olympic team on Friday. He’ll be joined on the Swedish team in Turin by Penguins teammate Erik Karlsson. Sidney Crosby will play for Canada, no doubt as the team captain, and goaltender Arturs Silovs will play for Latvia.
Evgeni Malkin practiced with the team in a non-contact jersey on Friday before the Penguins left for their road trip. He will be expected to join them on the ice tomorrow when they gather in Cranberry again. Malkin has missed fifteen games with an undisclosed injury.
