Marvin Leroy Williams, of Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at the age of 81, following a long struggle with memory loss.
Beloved husband of the late Barbara Ann Cunningham Williams; loving father of Sandra Rumble and husband Charles, of Pipersville; Daniel and wife Kate, of Pottstown; Deborah Powell and husband Steven, of Alamo, CA; and Sheryl Jacobs, of Thousand Oaks, CA. Loving grandfather to Kyra and Paige Rumble; Timothy, Thomas and Emily Williams; Mariah Jacobs; and Travis, Tyler, Alexandra and Eva Powell; John and Noah McAfoos. Sisters: Virginia Horstkamp, of Byron’s Road, MD; Florence Williams, of Indiana; and Phyllis Pruner and husband Rodney, of Coventing, GA; sister-in-law, Delores Null, of Curwensville. He is also survived by his current wife, Patricia Marshall and her family: Ken McAfoos and family; Clint McAfoos and family; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Leason and Grace Moorhouse Williams; his son-in-law, Kenneth Jacobs; brother, James and brothers-in-law: James Null and Nicholas Horstkamp.
Marvin was a lifelong resident of Indiana, graduating from Indiana Area High School in 1954 and he served two years in the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Marvin worked at McGill Motors in Indiana for more than half of his career and various other car dealerships in Western Pennsylvania. Over the years, Marvin owned local businesses as well.
Marvin was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church in Indiana and was an active member of the church prior to his illness. Marvin enjoyed delivering meals to those in need and was a frequent participant in the church’s missions trips, helping to rebuild after hurricane Katrina. Marvin was a member of the Indiana-Franklin Masonic Lodge 313 and the Coudersport Consistory. Marvin was known as someone who could fix anything, and he enjoyed helping friends and family fix their cars, homes and whatever else was needed.
Friends may visit Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. A memorial service will begin at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Kathy Mihoerck officiating, with graveside services at Oakland Cemetery.
