The ninth-ranked IUP women and the 25th-ranked IUP men return to the court today to take on West Chester, and tomorrow they’ll both face Millersville.
It’s a matchup of first place teams today with coach Craig Carey’s 10-0 Crimson Hawks women, first in the PSAC West, against 6-3 West Chester, which is currently on top in the PSAC East. IUP is 18-10 all-time against West Chester and has won the last six games they’ve played against the Golden Rams.
IUP is in a four-way tie for first in the PSAC West, with Gannon, Seton Hill, and Edinboro. Slippery Rock and Cal U are both 3-1.
Coach Joe Lombardi’s 8-1 IUP men will face off with the top two teams in the PSAC East. Both West Chester and Millersville are 7-3, with Millersville currently 2-1 and in first place in the East heading into their game at UPJ today. West Chester is in second in the East, 1-2 as they play tonight at the KCAC.
IUP is 18-14 all-time against West Chester. The Golden Rams won last year’s meeting but the Crimson Hawks had won five in a row before that.
The West has been dominant in the PSAC play so far this season. Four teams, including IUP are 4-0 in the conference, with two more at 3-1 and two at 2-2. Only Millersville is over .500 in the East, at 2-1.
Overall, teams from the PSAC West are 66-20 this season while teams from the East are 41-46.
