About 40 people took the challenge of the Blairsville Polar Plunge on Thursday, according to representatives with Blairsville’s Parks and Recreation foundation. They were one of two beneficiaries of the event, along with the Swift Water Rescue Team. Ab Dettorre with the rescue team said that safety was at the forefront of the event, especially when the air temperature was 19 degrees at the time the first participants went in.
