Mary E. (Schloss) Andrews, 90, of Blairsville, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2025, at her home following a brief illness. She was born August 3, 1935 in Erie, PA, to the late Edward G. Schloss, Sr. and Bertha Balsiger Schloss. She was a 1953 graduate of Strong Vincent High School, and was employed as a secretary with Erie Building Supply Company. Mary was united in marriage to Donald P. Andrews on October 19, 1957, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Erie, PA.
In 1969, the couple relocated to Blairsville, PA, coinciding with the opening of the Homer City Generating Station, where Don was employed. A devoted homemaker, Mary took great pride in caring for her family, and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, and gardening, all while diligently overseeing her children’s schoolwork and activities. She was a faithful member of Saint SS. Simon and Jude Church, and was actively involved in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the PTO. Mary was a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and the Pitt Panthers, rarely missing a televised game and delighted in attending a live game whenever possible. She also enjoyed bowling, reading historical fiction, watching classic films, and the Hallmark Channel, and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald (2018); her son, Robert (1987); her sister Catherine Hain; and her brothers, Edward G. Schloss, Jr. and Michael Schloss. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Young of Erie; her sons, Patrick M. Andrews (Blairsville) and Donald P. Andrews, Jr., and his wife, Dianne (Saxonburg); and her daughters, Jane Lee (Spartansburg) and Susan Ewen, and her husband Scott (Shelocta). She is also loving remembered by her grandchildren: Clayton Lee, and his wife Miriam; Alyssa Andrews, and her partner Joe; Mitchell Andrews; Christian Andrews; Laura Lee Jones, and her husband Jared; Bryan Andrews, and his partner Nikki; Ehrin Lee and his wife, Delaney; Benjamin Andrews, and his wife Kaylie; and Paul Ewen. Mary was blessed with great-grandchildren: Grayson, Clark, Asa, Auden, and Stella.
The family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home & Monument Company, Blairsville, PA on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A wake service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM in the funeral home. Prayers of transfer will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15 AM prior to a funeral mass at 10:00 AM in SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
