GIRLS BASKETBALL
Four players scored in double figures as River Valley clobbered Highlands at the Apollo Trust Company Christmas Tournament, 68-10. For the Panthers, Kennedy Cole scored 16 points, Maddie Twinchek and Alessia Lamantia both had 14, and Kenady Kitner had 12. Deer Lakes beat Apollo-Ridge, 51-41, to set the stage for a Monday championship game between River Valley and Deer Lakes.
At the Redbank Valley tournament, Marion Center dispatched Freeport, 56-39, behind 16 points from Alivia Ruddock. Natalie Black scored 14 for MC and Averi Ruddock had 10. Punxsutawney beat Redbank Valley, 53-44, to set up a Monday championship game between the Stingers and the Chucks.
BOYS BASKETBALL
At the Dick Rigby Ferndale Holiday Tournament, Homer-Center routed Rockwood, 89-20. Jack McNulty came off the bench and hit five three-pointers, finishing with 15 for the Wildcats. Ethan Palmer also had 15, Nash Budner had 12 and Joey Kosmack had 10. Meyersdale beat Ferndale 56-53 in the other game to set up a Monday final with Homer-Center.
Williamsburg defeated West Shamokin, 59-44. Alex Talmadge scored 31 for the Wolves.
