Two young Penguins prospects have been selected to play in the IIHF World Junior Championships, today through January 5th in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Penguins defenseman Harrison Brunicke will play for Team Canada. Except for a recent five-game conditioning stint in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he’s been with the Penguins this season, In nine NHL games, he has a goal and a plus/minus of minus-4.
Forward Will Horcoff will play for Team USA. He was one of the three Penguins first round draft picks this year, going with selection number 24. Horcoff is playing hockey this year at the University of Michigan, where he has 19 goals and 9 assists through twenty games.
Team USA plays Team Germany at 6 o’clock tonight. Team Canada plays Team Czechia at 8:30.
The Penguins play the Chicago Blackhawks on the road on Sunday night.
