Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is joining a coalition of 19 states that is suing to block the Trump Administration from ending gender-related care for minors.
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced a plan last week to end Medicaid and Medicare payments to any hospital that provides the treatments, claiming they “fail to meet professional recognized standards of health care.” The coalition warns Kennedy’s declaration could cause patients to lose access to gender-affirming care and instability to the Medicaid system.
Shapiro is the only governor on the lawsuit, with the other 18 states being represented by their Attorneys General.
