State police are investigating an attempted carjacking last night in Homer City Borough.
Troopers were sent out at 6:41 PM for the attempted robbery of a motor vehicle near 34 North Main Street. The suspect, identified later as a 57-year-old man from Johnstown, reportedly pulled a woman out of her car and tried to take the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. He then tried to open the door of another vehicle, but the driver sped off. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, but officers found him near Ridge Road and Route 119. When he refused to comply with verbal commands, police chased him down on foot and used a taser to subdue him.
He was taken into custody and resisted arrest. He was also found to be the subject of some outstanding arrest warrants.
Charges are being prepared and more information is expected to be released later today.
