BOYS BASKETBALL
The two remaining undefeated teams in the Heritage Conference had a showdown last night at United, where the Lions took a 12-point lead into the fourth quarter, then withstood a furious rally by the Indians to come away with a 59-55 victory. For United, Carter Payne scored 21 points and Ryan Felix added 16. For Conemaugh Township, Stephen Stango scored 20 points and Colin Dinyar had 18.
Northern Cambria outran Homer-Center, 31-11, in the first half and cruised home with a 47-34 win. Luke Blickenderfer scored 19 points, Zach Cavallo 15, and Danny Farrell 10 for the Colts. Nash Budner had 12 for the Wildcats and Joey Kosmack scored 9.
Marion Center went out of conference and walloped Dubois Central Catholic, 61-31. Kamden Rozier led the Stingers with 20 and Hayden Fox scored 18.
Portage played Bishop Carroll non-conference and the Huskies prevailed, 62-39 behind 30 points by Jace Casses and 13 by Drew Lucko. The Mustangs’ Llehson Walker scored 11.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Indiana turned up the defense in the fourth quarter, outscoring Greensburg Salem by nine over the final eight minutes to turn a 34-33 deficit into a 43-35 win to remain undefeated. Julia Antonacci scored 13 points and Addy Hutton had 10 for Indiana.
Macie Miller scored 22 points and Averi Ruddock added 17 as Marion Center topped Portage 55-49. Kendall Bednarski scored 15 for the Mustangs and Britton Myher had 10.
