BOYS BASKETBALL
Unbeaten United poured it on Conemaugh Valley, 85-57. Four Lions were in double figures, led by Carter Payne’s 20 and Ryan Felix’s 18. Brody Burkett scored 14 and Connor Darr 10. Lance Masser scored 20 points and Jaylen Henry had 13 for the Blue Jays.
Conemaugh Township set itself up for Monday night’s battle with fellow unbeaten United with a 64-30 win over Portage. Erik McClemons led the Indians with 15 points. Greyson Studer scored 12 and Colin Dinyar and Stephan Stango each had 11. For the Mustangs, no players hit double figures. They were led by Darnell Caldwell with 8.
Freshman Louie Rodman scored a career-high 21 points and Nash Budner added 15 as Homer-Center beat West Shamokin, 58-48. For West Shamokin, another big night for Alex Talmadge, who finished with 22.
Kamden Rozier scored 32 points and Hayden Fox added 19 as Marion Center dropped Penns Manor, 75-54. For the Comets, Dylan Depp scored 17 and Vinny Myers 15.
On the night they honored the 2005 state semifinalist Blairsville Bobcats, River Valley put away Purchase Line early with a 25-8 first quarter, on the way to a 73-36 win. Max Persichetti scored 12 points, 10 of them in the first quarter. Bryson McDowell had 10 for the Panthers. Freshman Nolan Engle led Purchase Line with 9.
HOCKEY
Anthony Neely scored the game-winning goal with 3:02 to play as North Catholic edged Indiana, 5-4. Miles Robinson completed a hat trick to score the game-tying goal about three minutes earlier. Joey Mains, Tyler Yount, Michael Dubetsky, and Spencer Hillsberry all scored for Indiana.
SWIMMING
Marion Center swept Punxsutawney, with the girls winning 102-65 and the boys winning 89-64 win.
The Stingrays’ girls winners included Jorjah Kessler in the butterfly and individual medley, Rowan Wagner in the 50 freestyle, and Katie Shaffer in the 500 free. The 200 medley relay team of Eva Long, Lindsey Reaugh, Lilly Schultz, and Carissa Adkins took first, and MC also took second and third in that race. Marion Center also swam to a first in the 200 freestyle relay, with Charleigh Swigart, Jorjah Kessler, Eva Long, and Rowan Wagner; and Swigart, Kessler, Reaugh, and Wagner finished first in the 400 free relay.
For the boys, Jacob Weil won two events, 50 and 100 freestyle. Seth Boring won the 500 free and backstroke. And Carson Wells took the 200 free and the butterfly. In the relays, Boring, Jack Cooper, P.J. Shellhammer, and Wells won the 200 medley. Weil, Lennon Brown, Gage Pennington, and Shellhammer took first in the 200 free. Boring, Cooper, Weil, and Wells won the 400 free.
For the night, Jorjah Kessler, Rowan Wagner, Carson Wells, and Seth Boring all met District qualifying standards.
RIFLE
Indiana Rifle lost to Waynesburg Central Greene, 795-53x to 786-45x. Top shooter for Indiana was Gavin Dicken with a 100-7x.
Indiana will host Penn Trafford on Tuesday, January 6th. There will also be an alumni match on December 26th at 6 PM. All former Indiana Rifle shooters are invited.

A busy week of basketball on Renda Digital TV continues tonight with a Heritage Conference girls clash between River Valley and Homer-Center. We’re on the air at 7 o’clock.
Tomorrow, it’s the inaugural Mark Arbuckle Classic, an Indiana doubleheader at the KCAC. The Indiana girls will take on Franklin Regional at 3:30, followed by the boys playing Dubois at 5. Pat Dougherty will have the call of the games and Pat has also announced that he will be donating two dollars to the Teddy Bear Fund Drive for every point scored by the Indiana girls and boys. He’s challenging others to join him by calling Renda Media and making a pledge today at 724-465-4700.
