Edge rushers TJ Watt and Nick Herbig were absent from Steelers practice again yesterday and rookie Jack Sawyer is being prepped to start Sunday against Detroit. The Steelers posted a photo of Watt at the team’s South Side facility. He has a lung injury and Herbig has an injured hamstring.
Four players were added to the injury list yesterday, including starting center Zach Frazier, with a triceps injury. Starting defensive tackle Keeanu Benton was limited by an ankle injury. Long snapper Christian Kuntz was limited with a knee injury and safety Jabrill Peppers sat out due to illness. Guard Isaac Seumalo and cornerback James Pierre also remained out.
With Watt and Herbig ailing, the Steelers signed edge rusher Jeremiah Moon off the Carolina Panthers practice squad. He spent all of last year with the Steelers and was waived/injured in training camp. He says he’s fully recovered and expects to suit up on Sunday in Detroit.
