GIRLS BASKETBALL
In a matchup of undefeated teams, Penns Manor topped Marion Center, 53-37. For the Comets, Adia Lieb had a double-double, scoring 15 points with 10 rebounds, and she also dished out 8 assists. Josslyn Bennett scored 13 points. Macie Miller and Averi Ruddock each had 13 for the Stingers. Penns Manor is 7-0 and Marion Center fell to 4-1.
Portage is 4-1 in the Heritage Conference after they took out Conemaugh Township, 53-28. Kendall Bednarski scored 17 points to lead the Mustangs, who got ten 3-pointers from five players. Mayce Kordell had 11 for the Indians.
River Valley outlasted Purchase Line, 43-38. Kennedy Cole and Kenady Kitner each scored 10 for the Panthers.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Marion Center went out of conference and easily handled Philipsburg Osceola, 72-42. Kamden Rozier was one of three Stingers in double figures, with 21. Alec Brudnock had 20 and Hayden Fox 11.
WRESTLING
Indiana bested Hampton in their home opener, dominating the Talbots, 64-11. Indiana winners were Lewis Sears, Charles Spells, Bo Blystone, Nate Turner, Connor Sevajian, Rowan Grantz, Dom Donatelli, Dom Fanella, Jacob Snyder, Jackson Higgins, and Cash Allshouse.
It came down to forfeits as Marion Center and River Valley matched up, with the Stingers squeezing by the Panthers, 35-31. Winners on the mat for Marion Center were Tyler Phillips, Carter Knox, and Chris Ruffner by decision and Mike Fabri by fall. For River Valley, the winners were Brady Kauffman and Zeke Doak by fall, and Landon Basic, Oskar Olsen, Tanner Flick, and Levi Anthony by decision.
West Shamokin overcame United, 39-21, taking advantage of five forfeits for the margin of victory. Winners in contested matches for the Wolves were Tucker Walker by decision and Rocko Buffone by fall. United’s winners were Josef Garshnick, Connor Riffer, and Max McConville by fall and Aiden Overly by decision.
