Elizabeth “Betty” Strotman, age 85 of Homer City, formerly of Bradford passed away on November 13, 2017, at Communities at Indian Haven.
She was born in 1931 in Olean, NY, to Francis J. and Anna B. (Powers) Durnein.
Betty was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Parish, Lucernemines.
She was employed for 18 years at Indiana Hospital as Assistant Manager in patient registration. She also was employed part-time at Diamond Drug before her retirement in 1992. In addition, she was employed by Corning Glass Works and Dressers in Bradford.
Betty was a member of the the Catholic Daughters Court #339, the Homer City American Legion Ladies Auxillary, and the Red Barn Sportsmen’s Club.
She enjoyed casino trips, reading, taking care of her grandkids and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
She is survived by her children – Michelle “Shelley” Thacker and husband John, Clymer; Terri Anne Perkins and husband Dennis, Bradford; Donald W. Strotman and wife Lauri, Indiana; Jodi M. Nehrig and husband Chris, Homer City; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and two nieces and one nephew; her sister-in-law Lena Durnein of Bradford and special friend Janice Smeal of Homer City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Strotman in 1991; infant daughter Lori K. Strotman, and brother William Durnein.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Parish, Lucernmines.
In lieu of flowers, Betty’s family suggests memorials be made to VNA, 850 Hospital Road, Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701, or donor’s choice.
