Aaron Rodgers did not practice for the Steelers yesterday, giving his fractured left wrist another day to heal. The Steelers’ quarterback said the extra time off may allow him to have fewer limitations on Sunday against Baltimore.
The Steelers’ wide receivers have had a rough season, failing to get open and offer their quarterback good targets. Rodgers says they’re working at it, but it’s not paying off.
Also missing practice yesterday were edge rusher TJ Watt, who was a new addition to the injured list with a bad toe; linebacker Patrick Queen, who has a hip injury; and defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, who has already been ruled out for Sunday with a knee injury. Cornerback James Pierre was a limited participant (still in concussion protocol). Wideout/special teams gunner Ben Skowronek (shoulder) and offensive lineman Calvin Anderson (knee) were also limited.
Wide receiver Adam Thielen put in his first practice after being claimed off waivers from the Vikings. And an ironic note: after being a healthy scratch against Buffalo on Sunday and being released on Tuesday, cornerback Darius Slay was claimed…by the Bills.
Steel Curtain legend L.C. “Hollywood Bags” Greenwood is one of three finalists in the seniors category for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Greenwood was a six-time Pro Bowl defensive end and a two-time All-Pro, and he was a member of the NFL All-Decade Team for the 1970s. The flashy Greenwood, who was noted for his gold high-top spikes, passed away in 2013 at age 67.
Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson and 49ers running back Roger Craig are the other two finalists among the players. Patriots owner Robert Kraft and former Browns, Jets, and Patriots coach Bill Belicheck are the finalists from the contributor and coach categories. A maximum of three from that group could be voted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
