The Penguins had the day off yesterday after flying from Philadelphia to Tampa for tomorrow’s game against the Lightning.
One of the Pens’ three number one draft choices this year was forward Will Horcoff, who is playing this season at the University of Michigan. Yesterday, the 6-5, 201-pound 18-year-old from Birmingham, Michigan was added to the U.S. hockey team’s preliminary roster for the IIHF World Junior Championship tournament.
The team will hold a training camp between December 15th and 23rd, then pick a 25-man final roster for the tournament in St. Paul, Minnesota between December 26th and January 5th.
Horcoff leads the NCAA in goals scored with 18 in 18 games, and is tied for the lead in points with 26.
