Last night, outgoing Indiana Borough Mayor Bill Simmons was recognized for his years of public service.

Chief Justin Schawl awarded Simmons with the Community Service Medal for his work to promote employee wellness, community well being and public safety. Schawl added that the mayor’s actions embraced the mission of the borough, supported business development , a strong approach to public safety, and accessibility to members of the community.
Simmons, who has also served in the Indiana Fire Association and on borough council, said that he was very proud of the work that he was able to do.
Tuesday night was the last regular council meeting that Simmons will serve as Mayor.
