At their meeting Tuesday night, the Homer City Borough Council approved the budget for 2026.
Expenditures for the spending plan come out to $727,046, with revenues at $728,650. When asked what challenges were faced during the budgeting process, Borough Manager Tonya Weller said that things went smoothly compared to other years, thanks to some major budget cuts.
Council also approved accepting an LSA reimbursement grant for the acquisition and demolition of some older properties along main street in downtown Homer City. The owner of one of the properties involved has decided not to sell, creating some impasse among council members. However Weller said its an opportunity the borough just can’t pass up.
In other business, council approved advertising their January reorganization meeting, which is slated to be held on the 5th.
