A hunter is recovering from injuries suffered in an Armstrong County fall.
The accident happened Saturday morning, the first day of firearm deer season, when the hunter fell from a tree stand in a remote area of North Buffalo Township near Johnston and Winfield just before 7 a.m.
Members of the South Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department were called to the scene to extricate the hunter from the site of their fall. A post from the South Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department said the hunter was flown to a local hospital for treatment.
The post said, “Thank you to Worthington West Franklin VFD for the buggy used for extrication, WKFD Station 240 for the manpower on scene, and Freeport Fire-EMS for manning the landing zone for STAT MedEvac and providing patient care. We also want to extend our gratitude to the numerous hunters who left their posts to lend a hand.”
