This Thanksgiving marks the 9th year a dedicated network of volunteers has come together to ensure no one in our community goes without a holiday meal. Preparations began Wednesday inside the Coral–Graceton Fire Department, where more than 60 turkeys—along with all the traditional side dishes—were cooked by teams of volunteers working around the clock.
Event organizer Julie Flowers talked about how the donation started.
Meal distribution began at 11 o’clock and continued until 2 p.m. In addition to on-site pickup, volunteers fanned out across the region to deliver roughly 150 meals to individuals who are homebound or otherwise unable to travel. In total, more than 200 families enjoyed a full Thanksgiving dinner thanks to this community-driven effort.
Most of the food was prepared in the kitchens of the Coral–Graceton Firehall, the Graceton–Coral Sportsman’s Club, and the Twin Cities Event Hall. This large-scale operation was made possible through donations and support from several organizations.
