Annual dog licenses for the 2026 year will be available for purchase starting next Monday.
Dogs must be licensed at the point of adoption or purchase, or at three months of age if no transfer of ownership has taken place. The youngest age that a dog can be licensed in Pennsylvania is eight weeks. The annual license costs $10.80, while a lifetime license is worth $52.80 for dogs with permanent identification like a microchip or tattoo. Senior adults and people with disabilities may be eligible for discounted fees of $8.80 for an annual license or $36.80 for a lifetime license.
License sales go towards funding for the dog wardens who protect dogs and communities across the state.
Licenses can be purchased online at licenseyourdogpa.pa.gov or at the County Treasurer’s office at the Indiana County Courthouse.
