With the events going on tonight in Downtown Indiana, Police are stepping up efforts to keep things safe.
Indiana Borough Police will be working with the state police and the county sheriff’s department on safety efforts tonight. Police are advising people to arrive early to tonight’s festivities and enjoy Downtown Indiana. Parking restrictions will start on Philadelphia Street from the 1000 block to the 500 block at 5:00 PM, with vehicles parked on the road ticketed and towed by police. At 6:30, Philadelphia Street between 4th and 13th streets will close completely.
Police recommend that people park at the Indiana Borough Parking Garage, which will charge a flat $5 fee for event parking tonight. Handicapped parking will be available in the 900 block of Philadelphia Street.
On top of arriving early, police are advising everyone to be patient, give yourself extra time, minimize distractions and watch for pedestrians.
