Lavelle C. Bothel, 85, of Indiana, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at her residence.
A daughter of the late Vernon R. and Bernice L. Shearer Claypoole, Sr., she was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Worthington.
Mrs. Bothel was a 1950 graduate of Indiana High School. She was retired from Indiana First Bank as a mortgage loan clerk. Lavelle was a former member of the Indiana Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, where she also served as secretary. She was a life member of the B.P.O.E. 931 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as past president, she was secretary for many years and was also the auxiliary Parliamentarian. Lavelle, along with her husband, were in charge of running the Elk’s bingo on Sunday nights for several years and had been an avid bowler in Indiana area women’s leagues. She could play a mean game of scrabble, never losing to her grandchildren, and enjoyed sewing, canning, doing crossword and word search puzzles and going to the beach with her family. Lavelle loved to attend activities that her grandchildren were involved in.
Lavelle was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by two children: Joseph C. Bothel (Janet), of Grover, NC; Deborah B. Stolitza (Stephen), of Clymer; two sisters: Darlene C. Shea (James), of Indiana and Madalyn C. Henry (Art), of Indiana; four grandchildren: Shannon Dishong (Erin), of Cleveland, OH; Nicholle P. Blystone (Chad), of Indiana; Cody W. Stolitza, of Clymer; Luke A. Stolitza, of Chesterfield, MO; two great grandchildren: Chase and Nolan Blystone; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Bothel, whom she married July 22, 1950; and a brother, Vernon R. Claypoole, Jr
