IUP’s women said no to Ashland. The Eagles will have to go for their 1,000th win in program history somewhere else.
IUP took down Ashland, 83-67, last night in the Crimson Hawks’ home opener at the KCAC. Teresa Maggio scored 20 points and Ny’Shae Weaver added 17 points and 11 rebounds as IUP raced out to a 29-13 lead after one quarter and led 54-35 at the half. Ashland could come no closer than 12 points in the final two quarters. IUP shot 9-for-20 from beyond the three-point line and made 18 free throws.
Ellie Wilkerson scored 13 points and Belle Bosch and Marin Miller each scored 9 for IUP.
IUP will play Chatham at the KCAC tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock in the Education Day game.
