The Indiana County Commissioners approved advertising the 2026 budget that will hold the line on property taxes.
Taxes will hold steady at 6.105 mills, with total revenues coming in at $52,118,255 and expenses at $53,433,938. Indiana County Commissioners Chairman Mike Keith said that the board started work on the budget in February of this year, knowing it would be a long process to get to today. He did say that while the budget would keep property taxes level, there were some tough decisions to be made.
The numbers are preliminary and could change before the budget is approved at the next meeting on December 17th.
In other business, the commissioners approved a line extension agreement for the Jimmy Stewart Airport to provide natural gas service at the Construct Hangar Project and any future projects at the facility. The contribution in aid of construction is estimated at $115,287 for the installation of 1980 feet of mainline pipe and service line facilities.
