Eleanor Jean “Jeanie” Gardner, 72, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully in her home on November 14, 2025. Born on October 31st, 1953, in Indiana, PA. Jeanie brought a spark of joy and light into the world from the very beginning. She was the cherished daughter of Olive Elizabeth McClain Gardner and Leonard Clyde Gardner, and grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings.
After spending her early years in Indiana, PA, Jeanie eventually made her lifelong home in Pittsburgh. It was there that she devoted three decades of service to The Blind Association as a piece maker. Jeanie took great pride in her work, and her dedication reflected not only her strong work ethic, but her deep compassion for others.
Jeanie’s loving, warm spirit touched everyone she encountered. She was admired for her gentle heart, her fierce loyalty, and her willingness to go above and beyond for family, friends, and strangers alike. Her presence brought comfort; her kindness, joy; and her stubborn determination, inspiration.
Family was the center of Jeanie’s world. She is survived by her siblings: Gail Louise Shoop of Indiana, PA; Ann Marie (David) Arthurs of Indiana, PA; Mary Ellen Sleigh of Blacklick, PA; Ronald Lynn (Kim) Gardner of Marion Center, PA; Donald Lee Gardner of Indiana, PA; and Patricia May (Tim) Buzzard of Aultman, PA. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Jeanie is preceded in death by her younger sister, Pamela Sue Gardner, her mother, Olive Elizabeth McClain Gardner, and her father, Leonard Clyde Garnder
Jeanie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for the love she shared so freely, and the lasting impact she made on the lives around her.
Visitation will be held at the John A Lefdahl Funeral Home Wednesday, November 19, 2025. From 2 pm until 4 pm and 6 pm until 8 pm. A funeral service will be held Thursday November 20, 2025 at 11 am in the Lefdahl Chapel.
