IRMC will be the exclusive sponsor of the program. They will provide ongoing professional support, mentorship and real-world clinical insights to enhance the educational experience of students enrolled in the program. Funding from the partnership through the River Valley Education Foundation will provide advanced technology and equipment to enhance instructional outcomes.
As part of the program, the school district and IRMC will offer eligible River Valley Seniors an opportunity to work part-time at the hospital while earning school credit. This will allow students to gain valuable experience on-site in various healthcare settings.
In a statement, River Valley Education Foundation President Geoff Dixon said that the partnership represents a perfect example of preparing students for various careers, and will “ensure our students have direct access to professional mentors, industry tools and the experience needed to succeed in today’s competitive workforce.” IRMC Physician Group Chief Medical Officer Dr. Patrick Shannon said this collaboration “allows us to invest in the next generation of healthcare professionals right here in our community,”
