The Pirates hired two more coaches this weekend as they continued to reshape manager Donnie Kelly’s staff. Kristopher Negron will get Kelly’s old job as bench coach, essentially replacing Gene Lamont, who came out of retirement last May to help Kelly after he was named manager. Negron has been with Seattle the last four years, as first base coach and third base coach.
And returning to the Pirates organization is Tony Beasley, the former Altoona manager who will take over as third base coach from Mike Rabello, who has rejoined Derek Shelton with the Twins. Beasley spent eighteen years in the Pirates’ system, including three seasons as third base coach from 2008 to 2010. He’s been with the Texas Rangers organization since 2015.
