River Valley’s Panthers Stadium will be the hosting venue of its first PIAA state playoff football this Friday.
The PIAA anmounced Sunday that District 6 champion Bishop Guilfoyle will play District 8 champion Westinghouse in the Class A quarterfinals with a 7 pm kickoff at the Heritage Conference’s newest football venue.
“It is exciting for River Valley to get the opportunity to host a PIAA state playoff game,” said River Valley Co-Athletic Director Geoff Dixon. “We are proud of our new facility and appreciate the opportunity to showcase the investment that our district, its businesses, and taxpayers made by hosting other teams from the region.
“Our administrative team at River Valley will work hard this week to make sure that Westinghouse and Bishop Guilfoyle have an outstanding experience. We hope that local fans will come and enjoy another Friday evening of the great tradition of high school football.”

Last week, Guilfoyle routed Juniata Valley, 62-6, in the District 6A championship game. Westinghouse shut out District 5 champion, 44-0.
