After spending the week in Stockholm, Sweden, the Penguins finally get to play today in the first game of the two-game “Global Series” against the Nashville Predators. Both teams are hoping to turn around a rough start to the month of November. The Penguins are 1-3-1 this month, with only three points. The Predators have lost five in a row, earning only one point in a shootout loss.
For the Pens, it’s been a homecoming for Swedish defenseman Erik Karlsson, forward Rickard Rakell, and goaltender Filip Larsson. Rakell won’t play as he continues his recovery from hand surgery. Larsson is the third goaltending option. Karlsson is the key for the Penguins, not only in this game but so far this season.
Coach Dan Muse says Karlsson is a game-changing defenseman.
Muse says Evgeni Malkin has also been playing at a high level, in what many believe will be his final season in a Penguins uniform.
Faceoff today is shortly after 2 PM on 92.5 FM U92. Sunday’s game will face off shortly after 9 AM.
