IUP football coach Paul Tortorella knows his Crimson Hawks will be facing a very good Kutztown team for the PSAC championship tomorrow afternoon. The undefeated Golden Bears are currently ranked number one in Super Region One in the Division II playoff chase, while 7-2 IUP is seeded fourth.
On this week’s Hawk Talk on Renda Digital TV and U92 radio, Tortorella said Kutztown is good on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
Tortorella says the PSAC West is loaded with good teams, and he hopes that gives IUP an edge tomorrow.
IUP and Kutztown have a history of success in the PSAC title game. The Crimson Hawks have won their last five appearances in the conference championships, most recently in 2022 over Shepherd. Kutztown has won the last three title games they’ve played and is the two-time defending PSAC champs.
IUP is looking for its twentieth PSAC Championship. Kutztown is hunting its fifth, and its fourth in the last five years.
Tomorrow’s game will be the 600th broadcast of an IUP football game by Jack Benedict. The IUP players will all have a special helmet decal to commemorate the occasion. Kickoff is at noon with the pregame airing at 11:30 AM on 92.5 FM U92.
