The Penguins entered the weekend with a chance to grab first place in the Metro Division away from New Jersey, but they gained only one of a possible four points, with losses to the Devils in a shootout on Saturday and in regulation to the LA Kings on Sunday.
Paul Steigerwald recaps yesterday’s game.
Penguins President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas said the team will take three goalies with them for the three games in Sweden and one of them will likely be minor leaguer Filip Larsson, who is from Stockholm. That will allow for the return to action of Joel Blomqvist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He was injured in training camp and has not yet played this season, but is projected to return by the weekend.
