Yesterday was the first day of the Veterans Expo and Stand Down at the KCAC.
The event is meant to help county veterans and their families connect with critical services and support, along with providing much needed supplies like gloves, coats, hygiene kits and other items to make sure at-risk veterans are healthy and safe through the winter season.
Indiana County Veterans Affairs Director Jessica Walker said that 78 vendors are taking part in the expo and it represents the variety and range of resources a veteran, surviving spouse or a dependent have.
Workshops on the schedule for today include veteran services at PA CareerLink, VA Benefits and State Veterans Programs, over-the-counter medicine, issues for women veterans and meditation.
The expo will be open to vets, surviving spouses and dependents only from 9-2, and then it will open to the general public from 2-4.
