Travel delays are possible at Pittsburgh International this morning as FAA flight reductions take effect.
The agency is eliminating some trips to make up for airport staffing shortages due to the ongoing government shutdown. The Pittsburgh airport is not on the list of 40 hubs seeing flights cut down, but some local travelers will still likely experience cancelled flights and long TSA lines. Cancellations at airports in cities including Chicago, Detroit, New York and Atlanta mean connecting flights beginning or ending in Pittsburgh could be impacted.
Folks flying out of Steel City this weekend are advised to check their flight status before going to the airport and to arrive extra early to get through security.
