The Army Corps of Engineers is set to begin nuclear waste cleanup in Armstrong County.
The corps held a public meeting with residents in Parks Township on Wednesday to share information on what they can expect with the project gets underway in the winter. Workers will be removing enriched uranium and other harmful substances dumped at the site by the Nuclear Materials and Equipment Corp. in the 1960’s and early ’70s.
Folks who live nearby may hear alarms sounding periodically as worker safety systems are tested.
