Local leaders in Greensburg are looking to crack down on false fire calls in the community.
The city council is expected to introduce a measure next week that could establish fines for repeated calls to the same property with no emergency happening.
Officials with the Greensburg Fire Department say responses to automatic fire alarms turn out to be unnecessary around 20 percent of the time. Those calls often stem from mechanical or programming problems with the alert systems, according to fire officials.
