Tuesday’s General Election numbers were good for Indiana County during what many consider an “off-year”.
Unofficial numbers from the county elections office showed 22,300 voters cast a ballot during the election. Commissioner Mike Keith said that represents a 45 percent voter turnout for the election. 17,677 of the ballots cast were done at voting sites across the county on Tuesday, while the remaining 4,623 were mail-in or absentee ballots.
As to the operations, Keith said things ran smoothly.
Any mail-in or absentee ballots set aside will be reviewed on Wednesday. Provisional ballots will be reviewed on Thursday, with a hearing of the official return board the following day. Final certification will come later this month.
