A man charged with arson is due in court today for a preliminary hearing.
Court documents show 23-year-old Moises Hernandez Us of Indiana is accused of setting a fire inside his apartment near the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Maple Street around 2:00 PM on October 9th. Investigators say Hernandez Us told police he had tried to set himself on fire and admitted to setting at least one object inside the apartment ablaze. He was hurt in the incident and taken for medical treatment. Several tenants were displaced by the fire. No one else was hurt.
Hernandez Us is charged with arson-danger of death or bodily injury, arson-endangering property, reckless burning or exploding and reckless endangerment.
