Donald Paul Carnahan, age 86 of Indiana, formerly of Shelocta, died August 24, 2017 at Communiteis at Indian Haven.
He was born in 1931 in Shelocta to Marlin “Mac” and Vernie Lowrey Carnahan.
Don was a member of the VFW Post #6555, a life member of the Shelocta Sportsman Club, and a life member of the C & Y Sportsman Club, and a member of the Operating Engineers Local #66.
A veteran of the Korean War he served in the US Navy.
Don was a heavy equipment operator with Latrobe Construction Co. for 30 years, and the Plum Creek Coal Co. for 15 years before his retirement in 1996.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Don is survived by two daughters and one son – Beverly St. Clair and husband Tom, Shelocta; Donald “Skip” Carnahan, Home; Vickie Davidson and husband Joe, Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren – Nicole Hess and husband Steve, Tommy St. Clair, Jon Carnahan, Carson Carnahan, Matt Davidson and wife Amber, Chris Davidson and wife Lindsay; four great grandchildren – Josh and Hailey Hess, Jacen Carnahan, and Myles Davidson; four siblings – Grace Shaeffer and husband Tom, Vandergrift; Patricia McConnell and husband Allan, Shelocta; Dorothy Cravener and husband Leonard, Shleocta; Richard Carnahan, Clune; and numerous neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife of 32 years, Dorothy J. (McCoy) Carnahan in 1987, two infant sons – William and Gary; and five siblings – Gladys Miller, Maxine Thomas, Clark and Wendell Carnahan, and Martha Walters.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P. M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Dick Motzing officiating. Interment will be made in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Sagamore.
