Ongoing disputes over the state budget in Harrisburg have Westmoreland County officials exploring their options.
The county relies on the state for just under 25% of its funding, but those funds are currently on hold. In response, county commissioners have authorized the finance department to pursue a $14.1 million loan from the state treasury to cover essential expenses.
Local taxpayers would be responsible for paying the interest on that loan.
