Pittsburgh Public School Board President Gene Walker plans to meet with the district superintendent following another incident involving an autistic student leaving school unsupervised.
According to Walker, a 14-year-old student at Pittsburgh Carmalt exited the building through a staff door yesterday and was later found by his transportation driver, who took him home safely.
This comes just a week after a seven-year-old autistic student walked away from Pittsburgh Colfax during recess. Walker says he will speak with Superintendent Wayne Walters today to review and strengthen the district’s safety protocols.
