The Pitt Panthers are picked to finish 14th out of 18 schools in the ACC preseason men’s basketball poll. That’s the result of losing 13 of their last 18 games last season and returning only four scholarship players. The Panthers’ roster will include four transfers, although Dishon Jackson is out indefinitely due to a medical condition. There are five freshmen recruits, two of them from Australia.
Twins Guillermo and Jorge Diaz-Graham have transferred, Guillermo to San Francisco and Jorge to Oregon State.
Duke, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State, and Virginia make up the top five in the preseason poll. NC State’s Darrion Williams is the ACC Preseason Player of the Year. Duke’s Cameron Boozer, the son of Duke legend Carlos Boozer, is the Preseason Rookie of the Year.
Pitt plays an exhibition game against Providence this Sunday afternoon at the Petersen Events Center. The regular season tips off November 3rd against Youngstown State and the Panthers’ first ACC game is December 30th at Miami.
