The Pirates have claimed outfielder Will Robertson off waivers from the White Sox. The 27-year-old made his MLB debut in June for the Blue Jays and was claimed off waivers by the White Sox in July. In 70 Major League at-bats, he hit .129 with nine RBIs and 27 strikeouts. He hit 20 home runs in Triple-A.
To make room on the 40-man roster, Ryan Kreidler was designated for assignment. He was claimed in August from the Tigers and spent a week in the bigs with the Pirates, but did not get into a game.
