Preliminary hearings are scheduled for today in Indiana County’s district courts today, including a Venango County man who faces charges of simple assault and harassment.
22-year-old Nicholas Roberts of Cooperstown faces charges of misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment connected with an incident on March 27th. On that day, Indiana Borough Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Philadelphia Street at 4:42 AM for a reported domestic dispute in progress. Officers found Roberts had allegedly assaulted his domestic partner. Roberts was taken into custody without further incident and was placed in Indiana County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is also scheduled for an Indiana man charged with burglary, simple assault, terroristic threats, theft and three summary counts. Court documents say that 39-year-old Derrick McKenneth was charged in connection with an incident on New Year’s Day. After spending the month of January in jail unable to post a $150,000 bail, his bond was reduced to $50,000 and that was paid on January 31st by a bail bondsman.
