Indiana scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to come from behind and outslug Freeport, 13-10. Zach Tortorella and Garrison Dougherty each had three hits.
Marion Center scored eight runs in the first inning and crushed Penns Manor, 13-1. Parker Black had a big day, going 2-for-3 at the plate and pitching four innings, giving up a run on three hits and a walk while striking out eleven. Ty Ryen, Nick Pacconi, Dakota Bracken, and Black all drove in runs in the first inning.
Northern Cambria nipped Cambria Heights, 4-3, despite the Colts having only three hits. Ben Messina hit a two-run homer for Northern Cambria. Ben Hite, Garrett Jasper, and Nick Patterson all had two hits for the Highlanders.
River Valley and Homer-Center played to a 10-10 tie before the game was halted by darkness. It will be resumed on April 27th.
SOFTBALL
River Valley shut out Homer-Center, 7-0. Hannah Foust struck out 17, stole 2 bases and scored two runs. Tori Foust was 3-for-4 with two home runs and 4 RBIs. Madison Stutzman also drive in two for the Panthers.
Marion Center scored 10 runs in the first inning and 7 in the second to shut out Penns Manor, 17-0. Katie Moore had three hits, including a 3-run home run, a double, and a triple. Grace Rougeaux had a 2-run home run and 4 RBIs.
Abby McConville had three hits, including a home run and 6 RBIs, and Kylie Price, Coral Grassmyer, Jaelyn Lichtenfels, and Tatumn Coyle all had two hits as United scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th and rallied over Blacklick Valley, 13-12.
CONGRATS, DON!
At a special meeting and celebration last night, the Marion Center school board approved the naming of their high school gym after longtime coach and assistant athletic director Don Seanor. The honor came on Don’s 78th birthday (born 4/4/44). He’s been associated with Marion Center sports for more than 50 years.
