Pennsylvania Sen. Tracy Pennycuick has introduced legislation aimed at addressing the growing threat of AI-generated child sexual abuse material.
Citing a sharp rise in such content — some even created and shared by students — Pennycuick said schools are not immune. Her bill would require mandated reporters to notify authorities if they encounter AI-generated CSAM, stressing that the lasting trauma these images cause makes swift reporting essential.
“The damage inflicted by the creation and dissemination of these materials can be devastating,” Pennycuick wrote. “For minors, already in the formative stages of their lives, the trauma, anxiety, and fear caused by these acts can be life-altering.”
